Once you were someone, then you became you,
A name may have changed, but the heart stayed true.
Older in years, yet never unkind,
A friend like you is a rare one to find.
Through growing-up struggles, side by side,
In a town where the sun seemed to often hide.
Yet through the grey, we carved our space,
With stories and songs, with light and grace.
The stage was our world, the music our thread,
You on the keys, the bass in your stead.
Larger than life, with a voice so strong,
While I found my courage where I belonged.
Years may stretch and time may fly,
But some friendships never say goodbye.
Though distance stands, the bond remains,
A quiet warmth that never wanes.
