This was the speech I wrote for the July 2nd meeting at Innisfil Toastmasters. Somehow I ended up leaving it on my desk at home, so I improvized a version of it. No matter what, it's a good start to the new Toastmasters year.
Good evening everyone, and welcome to Innisfil Toastmasters. Club Number 3589490, Area N15.
Yesterday, we celebrated Canada Day—a day to reflect not only on our nation's history, but also on the remarkable diversity of people, cultures, ideas, and experiences that continue to shape who we are. Like Canada itself, our club grows stronger because every voice brings something unique to the conversation.
Our theme tonight is "Planting Seeds for Success." Every speech we deliver, every evaluation we offer, every role we accept is a seed. Some bloom into confidence. Others grow into leadership. And sometimes, the smallest seed becomes something far greater than we ever imagined.
What a fitting way to begin a new Toastmasters year. I'm proud to share that our club has achieved Distinguished Club status, a testament to the dedication of every member here. We've also welcomed six new members, including our new District Director, Madhukar, District Public Relations Manager Sukhi, and Public Relations Assistant Mia. Your energy and experience will help our club continue to flourish.
I'd also like to thank the leaders who have helped plant the seeds that brought us to this moment. Thank you to our Past President, Victoria, now serving as Secretary; to Lorraine, continuing as our Vice President Education and Sergeant at Arms; to Meagan, our continuing Treasurer; and welcome to Fran as Vice President Public Relations and Nuwan as Vice President Membership. And thank you to Kim for her role as Secretary.
So tonight, let's plant seeds with every word we speak, every person we encourage, and every challenge we embrace. The harvest may not come tomorrow—but together, we're cultivating a future filled with confident communicators, inspiring leaders, and lasting friendships.
Thank you all for the work we have done, but will continue to do together, throughout this new Toastmasters year and beyond. Let's grow together!
